In this class, students will be doing research on a variety of subjects. These research projects are aimed to help each student to grasp the use of proper citation and acknowledgement of sources, but another very important reason is the use of scholarly research.
Writing research papers, doing projects on particular subjects, and even looking up information for study purposes are all skills that will be needed in higher education. In addition, this is an English class and writing and reading are key features.
To help students to find academic and scholarly writing on their own, in addition to using the resources and databases provided by the school, I have created here a list of search engines and websites that may help them.
Google Scholar: As students in a modern age, Google is something that is familiar to us all. However, the information found via the basic search is not always reliable or academic. With Google Scholar, you can look up articles, abstracts, and other literature.
iSEEK Education: This search engine is targeted especially for educational purposes, and for students and teachers alike.
DMOZ: Technically an open directory, this site is an index of all sorts of information that pertains to certain fields, all selected by experts in various fields.
